Whew! Back from four busy and fun-filled days at State! State Conference was honestly one of the best experiences I've ever been a part of and I'm so thankful to be a part of the FCCLA team! I was able to make new friends, have new experiences and gain new information as how to become a better leader. This year's theme was #realitycheck where we all discovered how to "check" ourselves into leadership!
Here's a brief idea of what we did each day~
Tuesday: After school we made the trek to Wenatchee, where we made ourselves comfortable for the night and tucked into bed a little after 2am after practicing for our presentations the next day :)
Wednesday: Early to rise and get ready to head to the conference center for orientation, socializing, and most importantly competing! That evening's keynote speaker was Miss Washington of 2011 expressing that no matter what your upbringing or social status we can all become great leaders with great dreams! Regional meetings followed that evening and an enthusiastic mixer after.
Thursday: Early to rise again and head to the conference center for a morning session with the keynote speaker being the National FCCLA Vice President of Public Relations - I found her to be so energetic and inspirational - she truly is an amazing leader! Then we left for a little shopping and Red Robin lunch - yum! :) Next back to the conference for workshops - I attended Spread the Red by the VP of Public Relations, Dress for Success, and College Admissions information, all of which will be great tools for the future. Then back to the hotel to get all dolled up for the FCCLA Banquet and Awards Ceremony with a dance to follow. This was truly a great night with great news!
Friday: Up early and out the door to the conference for the final session and installation of new officers! Sad to have to leave my FCCLA family - everyone was so inviting and friendly. Then Olive Garden lunch and headed home! :)
Thank you so much to everyone who was cheering me on, praying for me, and supporting me throughout the entire journey of this project! Thankfully, my journey isn't over yet and is leading me to Nashville, TN this summer for the FCCLA National Conference! I placed in the Gold Category and 2nd in the State. In the project I competed in, National Programs in Action Jr. Category, the top two competitors move on from state to be National Representatives! Everyone in the Asotin chapter placed in the Gold Category, two others are moving onto nationals and two other girls each received scholarships for their projects that can be used toward Johnson & Wales University - I am so proud of them and so thankful to be part of such a wonderful school! I am so blessed to be moving on and so thankful to everyone who has been a part of this project - I truly couldn't have done it without you!
You're all BEaUtiful! :)
